And I’m Feeling Good…

Foxy With Tools“Birds flying high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by you know how I feel…”

She sits in quiet contemplation. To the outside world she is content. Those around her are instantly calm. It doesn’t matter how many real or imagined swords are pointing her way. She doesn’t need acknowledge them. She just is who she is in the moment, and she radiates contentment. She is Barb, and she is my friend.

She is me when I am near Barb. The woman has an amazing ability to instantly set you at ease, and she inspired this little foxy lady drawing.

We never know what is going on in someone else’s head. This sweet little fox might be thinking of chomping the grapes ala Aesop’s Fables (read the story). Perhaps inside she thinks of all the failures. Maybe she calls herself a fool. Perhaps she doesn’t have a Barb to calm her worries.

Inside, I imagine that Barb feels a bit like Najja Safara as she performs the dance in this video. I know that after I connect with her, I feel that way, settled, vibrant and alive. I am always dancing in my head, hearing music, the beat of my life thrumming. When my physical shell chooses to limit me, I feel through my imagination.

So, next time you think you know what someone else is thinking, stop and feel into it. Do a little mind twirl. Transform your worry to wonder and awe about what you are feeling, and let the thinks melt away. Can’t get in that mindset? Let Nina Simone take you there.  Barb, like Nina, is a High Priestess of Soul and like Barb, Nina always brings me to calm.

“Birds flying high you know how I feel…
Sun in the sky you know how I feel…
Breeze driftin’ on by you know how I feel…
And I’m feeling good.”
